Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre
Cynthia
M.A. Butler-McIntyre is a 1976 graduate of Dillard University with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. At the age
of 20, she received a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration/Curriculum
and Instruction from the University of New Orleans. She
has done post-graduate work at various universities throughout the
southwest portion of these United States and holds an honorary Doctorate
of Divinity degree from Christian Bible College of Louisiana.
Cynthia is employed as the Personnel Administrator for over 3,000 classified
employees of the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) in Harvey,
LA. She has also served the school system as a kindergarten teacher, Assistant
Principal and summer school Principal. And, she has been on staff at the
University of New Orleans as an Assistant Supervisor of Student Teaching and
Field Experiences. Also, she has served many years as Executive Director of the
Summer Tech-Prep Program at Delgado Community College for high school students
as they transitioned to post-secondary education.
Cynthia is a member of several civic, professional and religious organizations
such as Founding President of the Algiers-Gretna Branch of the NAACP; National
Board Member, National Alliance of Black School Educators; Secretary, Louisiana
Association of School Personnel Administrators; Parliamentarian and Charter Member,
Jefferson Alliance of Black School Educators; Past President of the Central Office
and District Administrators Association of JPPSS; Past 1st Vice President,
Coalition of 100 Black Women; and Second Vice President, Women’s Auxiliary,
Cornerstone Missionary Baptist General Association. She was just recently
elected to serve as the 24th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Inc., an organization she has served on the local, state, regional and national
level since 1973. She is also co-founder and co-organizer of Momma's Girls, a
ministry for motherless daughters
She has been an active member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church in New
Orleans since the age of seven. The Rev. Dr. Reginald Nicholas, Sr. is
her Pastor. She is married to Mr Ronney McIntyre, owner/operator of
McIntyre Masonry. Through her marriage she has been blessed with four children,
Shavonny, Roney, Ciara and Rachaud and two grandchildren, Gavon and Angie.
She has received numerous awards and citations for service and achievement including being
named the Distinguished Alumnus of Dillard University; National Finalist,
Tribute to Black Women Community Leaders, NCNW; listed in Who's Who in
American Education; Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year, State
of Louisiana; Exceptional Service Award, American Association of School
Personnel Administrators as well as Outstanding Gospel Speaker,
GMWA for three consecutive years. Above all, she realizes
that all she is and ever hopes to be is all owed to GOD and His grace. Therefore,
if anybody should ask who she is, she says, “JUST TELL ‘EM
I’M A CHILD OF GOD!” |
