Vivian Celeste Neal was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. She attended the Greensburg-Salem Schools. After graduating from Clarion State University with a bachelor degree in Education, Vivian moved to Akron, OH. and began her career in education with the Akron Public Schools. She received a masters in Education from the University of Akron. Vivian retired from the Akron Public Schools.

During her career, Vivian served in the following positions: teacher, principal and central office administrator. After retiring from the school district, she was Assistant to the Senior Vice President and Provost for Educational Outreach at The University of Akron.

Vivian is a member of the Akron BioMedical Corridor Advisory Board; Greater Akron Chamber Board; Akron Art Museum Board; Akron Roundtable Board; The University of Akron, College of Education Alumni Board; the National Alliance of Black School Educators Foundation; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Kent Area Chapter of Links, Inc.; Emeralds Civic Club; and member of Arlington Church of God Leadership Council.

Vivian is the Community Program Director with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation of Miami, Florida. She oversees grant development and grant making, working with a Community Advisory Committee in Akron, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana, two of the foundation's 26 communities.

Vivian is married to Vernon Neal. They are the proud parents of Monica Neal-Davis and Byron Neal. Monica is married to Anthony Davis and they have two children, Mya and Nia. Byron has one daughter, Jaelyn. Vivian is an active member of the Arlington Church of God, serving on the Diakonate Board and a member of Leadership Council.

Being a part of a loving Christian family and blessed with three grandchildren are the joys of Vivian's life.
