As part of its commitment to transparency in governance, the US Department of Education is providing the public with the applications it received from states applying to the Race to the Top program and the reviewers' scores and comments. A minimal amount of personal information has been redacted from the applications. The Department has also posted the videos of each of the 16 finalists presenting and responding to questions from peer reviewers regarding their Race to the Top applications. COMMON CORE STANDARDS

On June 2nd, 2010 the National Governor's Association(NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers(CCSSO) RELEASED A SET OF STATE-LED VOLUNTARY EDUCATION STANDARDS at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee,Ga. The leaders commented: "The release of the standards marks the conclusion of the development of the Common Core Standards and signals the start of the adoption and implementation process by the states."
The education world is awaiting the reaction of the US Departmentof Education to determine how it "will play" the standards in the reauthorization of ESEA.
