Forty-Nine years ago, 27 African American Superintendents gathered in Michigan and established the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE). At that time, Black school district leaders comprised less than three percent of the national aggregate. Today Black superintendents are approximately 3.7 percent of the national aggregate. These statistics clearly suggest the need for more Black school district leaders.

NABSE endeavors to do its part in addressing this situation. Among them is the provision of a $10,000 scholarship to a qualified Black student who is pursuing an advanced degree in educational leadership. The scholarship is made possible with a grant from our strategic partner Curriculum Associates, an education company dedicated to supporting the growth and success of Black leaders.

The scholarship will be payable to the recipientā€™s institution of higher learning and the recipient will be recognized during the Awards Banquet at the 51stĀ Annual Conference.

NABSE invites all aspiring superintendents who are currently enrolled in or have been accepted into, an advanced degree program in education in a college or university, to avail themselves of this scholarship opportunity.
