Position Summary
The Director of Engagement and Finance plays a vital role in advancing the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) through strategic growth and financial accountability. This position leads the expansion of affiliate, corporate, nonprofit, K–12, and higher education memberships; cultivates sponsorship relationships; and ensures accurate, transparent financial management. Working closely with the NABSE Treasurer and Corporate Liaison, the Director will deliver timely financial and engagement reporting to leadership and the broader NABSE community.
Key Responsibilities
Membership & Sponsorship Development
- Lead outreach efforts to grow:
- Affiliate and national memberships
- Corporate and nonprofit sponsorships
- Institutional memberships (K–12 districts and higher education partners)
- Develop and maintain promotional materials that communicate the value of NABSE affiliation.
- Coordinate with the Corporate Liaison to ensure sponsor relationships are cultivated, maintained, and accurately reported.
- Support the planning and execution of sponsor-related deliverables tied to NABSE events and strategic priorities.
Engagement Reporting & Analytics
- Produce membership reports (affiliate and institutional) and ensure they are up to date for the Annual Conference.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Liaison to develop annual sponsorship reports for board review and external communication.
- Track affiliate membership trends and engagement metrics to inform outreach and retention strategies.
Financial Oversight & Bookkeeping
- Partner with the NABSE Treasurer and contracted accounting firm to manage financial operations.
- Maintain accurate records of income, expenses, payments, and reimbursements.
- Prepare and deliver financial reports, cash flow projections, and budget variance analyses.
- Support the Treasurer in preparing financial presentations for the Board of Directors and general membership.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, or Finance (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit finance, sponsorship, or engagement roles.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel/Sheets, and CRM systems.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
