Dr. D. Ray Hill

Dr. Hill currently serves as superintendent of Anniston City Schools located in South Alabama and has also served as superintendent in Georgia. Serving as an educator for more than 30 years in public education as a superintendent, principal and assistant principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels in rural and suburban/urban school districts, he believes that “All Students must receive a rigorous and high-quality education” through consistent research- based teaching strategies. He has served on various state and local committees including State Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, Cross Functional Action Team, and Compensation Task Committee for state accreditation.
His extended educational experience includes training serving as a keynote speaker for the Aspiring Superintendents Leadership Institute (NABSE), as well as, a presenter with AASA Superintendent’s Urban Academy, Alabama Association for School Boards (AASB) committees and as a presenter for the Early Principals Center at the University of Georgia.
He has implemented a 1:1 IPAD student initiative and Innovative AI (Artificial Intelligence) labs enabling every student to have electronic access to textbooks. His launching of College and Career pathways enabled students to graduate with a high school diploma, Associate degrees and industry certification to enter a job in the career track they completed in high school. He also launched Pre-college programs to include the International Baccalaureate programs Middle Years Programs (MYP), Diploma (DP) certification for students, and dual enrollment in local area colleges. Dr. Hill holds degrees from Florida A&M University and leadership degrees from Clark Atlanta University. He is also a Marine Corp Veteran and served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
